The Brazos Valley Contractors Association is a non-profit organization created to promote and serve the local commercial contractors who are members of the Association. The BVCA membership list is freely distributed.
The Plan Room is the administrative office and blueprint library for the BVCA. The Plan Room also maintains copy facilities for sizes up to 36" x 48".
The Plan Room Newsletter is published weekly and usually sent out on each Thursday evening. Exceptions would be weeks with holidays when the newsletter may go out early or if there are no changes from the previous week’s edition it may not be published for that week. The newsletter is sent out via three methods: Fax, e-mail or postal service.
The primary purpose of the newsletter is to advertise upcoming bidding opportunities. To that end, the newsletter is generally formatted in two distinct sections, the advertisements for bid and the bidding calendar. The advertisements will consist of the project’s name, location, bid date and time, architect/engineer of record, project owner, bidding location, scope of work and bid list. The bid list will include phone numbers and fax numbers for each bidder (as available). The calendar will present these jobs in order by bid date and will list just the job name, location and architect/engineer.
Often addenda or updates to bid lists arrive here after the newsletter has gone out and if they affect a job that bids before the next newsletter then a mid-week update is sent out, called an addenda.doc. Due to the time-dated nature of this document, it’s only sent to members who receive their newsletters by fax or e-mail.
The newsletter is distributed to all BVCA Members and additionally to many local and out-of-town architects, engineers, City and County administrative and governmental entities, several State and Federal agencies, Physical Plant Departments in several Texas Universities (notably TAMU, SHSU, PVAMU), Bryan and College Station I.S.D.’s Construction Services, the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce, Community Development Offices of both Bryan and College Station and the Small Business Development Service.
